LVFD Makes Nice Stop on Soundview Place

At approximately 17:39 hours the LVFD Dispatcher received a 911 call, via FireCom, from a homeowner reporting a house fire. Chief Baker (5400) responded in first and was confronted with a 2 1/2 story private dwelling under renovation with fire in the walls. Read more

LVFD Launches New Fire Police Squad

The Locust Valley Fire Department is proud to announce the launch of our new Fire Police Squad. This new unit was established to provide support during various firematic operations and non-firematic events. Some of their duties include: Traffic Control, Establishing Scene Safety Zones, Crowd Control, Protecting Emergency Workers and Bystanders, Securing Incident Scenes, and Providing Incident Support. LVFD Asks Residents to Clear Hydrants

To members of the Locust Valley Fire Department, a fire hydrant is one of their most important pieces to the puzzle when it comes to a serious fire. Please understand that time is of the essence, and time spent clearing a hydrant during an emergency is time lost getting water to a fire. During these heavy snowfalls, the Locust Valley Fire Department asks our residents to clear your fire hydrants when clearing your walks. This work no doubt can make a difference when the need for water is critical. We also remind our residents that clearing snow can be exhaustive and taxing on the human body. Read more

New Carbon Monoxide Law

Effective February 22, 2010, a new New York State Law known as Amanda's Law will take effect mandating the presence of Carbon Monoxide detectors in every home. The law was named after Amanda Hansen, a teenager whose life was tragically ended by a carbon monoxide leak from a defective boiler while she was sleeping at a friend's house in January 2009. Mutual Aid to Glen Cove FD

At approximately 5:45am the LVFD was dispatched to assist Glen Cove with a working fire on Bowne Street. Glen Cove Command requested units from Sea Cliff and Locust Valley to assist at the scene of a fire in a 2 story private dwelling. Read more

Mutual Aid to Bayville

At 9:40 pm on a cold and windy Saturday night, the LVFD was dispatched to assist the Bayville Fire Company with a fire in a 2-story private dwelling on June Avenue. FIRECOM requested Locust Valley provide 1 ambulance to the scene and 1 engine to standby at Bayville headquarters in case of additional alarms in their district. Read more
