LVFD Responds as F.A.S.T. Team to Glen Cove Signal 10

Baker on November 28, 2009 - 18:10On November 22nd around 2:25pm, Glen Cove Fire Dispatch signed on the air with a general alarm report of a smoke coming from the building at 11 Westland Drive. The first unit to arrive on Morgan Island was 5201 who transmitted a Signal 10 before he reached the residence due to the large column of black smoke rising into the air. Assistant Chief Tripp arrived on scene and noticed one section of the house was fully engulfed in flames. Read more
LVFD Softball Wins Eight Straight

Good Stop at Signal 10 on Bayville Road
Submitted by FF Z. Baker on July 27, 2009 - 12:34At approximately 6:24am on Monday, July 27th, the Locust Valley Fire Department was toned out for a Possible Fire in the Wall at 255 Bayville Road. Nassau County PD confirmed a smoke condition coming from the residence. Chief Scaperotta (5401)was first due and also confirmed smoke coming from the residence upon arrival. Chief Nolan (5402) arrived on scene next. Engine 544, under command of Lt. Steve Kelly, arrived on scene as 5402 requested a 2nd alarm for a working fire. 5401 requested a mutual aid engine from Bayville Fire Company and the F.A.S.T. team from Glen Cove Fire Department. Rescue Call - Forcible Entry Required

Baker on July 22, 2009 - 21:15On July 21st at approximately 9:00am, the members of the Locust Valley Fire Department were toned out for a Rescue Call at the residence of 120 Piping Rock Road. The dispatcher also notified all LVFD units that forcible entry was required. Assistant Chief's Scaperotta (5401) and Nolan (5402) responded along with Engine 544. The call came from the homeowner stating that there were two thirteen (13) month old twins locked in a bedroom for more than an hour, and the babysitter couldn't get them out. Chief Nolan was able to force entry into the bedroom and retrieve the young toddlers. Read more
Overturned Auto on Cleft Road

Baker on July 22, 2009 - 21:10On the morning of July 21st at approximately 7:23am, the Locust Valley Fire Department was toned out for a Motor Vehicle Accident with a report of an overturned vehicle at the intersection of Bayville Road and Factory Pong Road. Assistant Chief's Scaperotta (5401), Nolan (5402), and Greenfield (5403) all responded as well as Ambulance 541 and Rescue 542. When the units came upon the intersection, they could not locate the accident scene. Chief Scaperotta drove around the neighborhood and found the accident to be on Cleft Road just east of Frost Mill Road. Read more
Mutual Aid F.A.S.T. Team Responds to Glenwood Working Fire

Baker on July 15, 2009 - 16:32In the early morning hours of Wednesday July 15th, the Glenwood Fire Company was toned out for an Odor of Smoke in the house at 5 Hamilton Court, off of High Farms Rd. in Glen Head. Upon arrival, Chief 5301 reported a working fire. At 4:46am the Locust Valley Fire Department was toned out for the request of a F.A.S.T. team to the fire on Hamilton Ct. LVFD Fights Car Fire

Baker on June 30, 2009 - 17:57At approximately 4:04pm on Saturday, June 27th, the Locust Valley Fire Department was toned out for a Car Fire located on Cleft Rd. in Mill Neck near the intersection of Upper Horseshoe Rd. Assistant Chief Scaperotta (5401) was first on scene and confirmed a mini-van on fire. Engine 545, under the command of Lt. Steve Kelly, was the first due engine and immediately stretched a 1 and 3/4 in hose line. The fire in the car was quickly knocked down as well as the trees in which the car was parked under. Four Car MVA Mutual Aid to Glen Cove

Baker on June 25, 2009 - 20:27Around 11:40am on June 25th the Glen Cove Fire Department received a call for a multiple car motor vehicle accident with a request for the Hurst Tool at the intersection of Town Path Ln. and the Arterial Highway (a.k.a. Glen Cove Rd.). Glen Cove FD received more information stating that there were multiple people who needed aid. The Glenwood Fire Company was dispatched for a mutual aid two ambulances to the scene of the accident, along with an ambulance form Sea Cliff Fire Department as well, to help with the aided. Bayville Fire Company sent an ambulance over to Glen Cove EMS HQ to standby. Read more
LVFD Does Honor Guard at Mets Game

Baker on June 25, 2009 - 20:12On Wednesday, June 24th, members of the Locust Valley Fire Department stood tall during the singing of the National Anthem at Citi Field as the Honor Guard for the Mets game. Ex-Chiefs Patrick Vissichelli and Billy Eliseo gave stern salutes, Lieutenant Tommy Winslow held the Department Flag, Firefighter Brian Plumb held the American Flag, and Chief Jeffrey Baker and 2nd Assistant Chief Brian Nolan held the Department Banner. LVFD Wins Big at the 5th Battalion Parade
Submitted by FF Z. Baker on June 22, 2009 - 17:24This past Saturday, June 20th, was the 5th Battalion Parade and Drill hosted by the Sea Cliff Fire Department. Even with the torrential downpours at times, the parade went on without an issue. Locust Valley Fire Department, led by Chief Jeffrey Baker, marched down Sea Cliff Ave. looking sharp in their class "A" uniforms. The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Band kept everyone in step and played beautifully. The parade went through the Village of Sea Cliff and ended at Tappen Beach. Later on in the night the judges awarded fire departments with the trophies for various situations. Read more
