LVFD Alerted For Propane Tank Fire

At approximately 10:40pm on Friday, March 13th, LVFD dispatch toned out the members for a reported propane tank fire at 247 Lattingtown Rd. Asst. Chief Baker was on the road first and received additional information that it could be possibly two 20 lb. BBQ propane tanks on fire against the house.

Asst. Chief's 5401, 02, and 03 arrived simultaneously and found a BBQ against the house with fire in the grease pan. There was no extension to the propane tanks as the resident had already turned the tanks off prior to our arrival. AC 5401 was able to remove the grease pan to the lawn while AC 5402 doused it with a water can. Incoming units from E545 and TL546 checked for extension to the house, which turned out to be negative. All units were up within 15 minutes of receiving the alarm.
