Tower Ladder 546 Responds Mutual Aid To Glenwood Job
At approximately 1:00pm on Wednesday, May 6th, the Glenwood Fire Co. was alerted for a report of a fire at the Glen Head Country Club. On the initial dispatch Glenwood Chief 5300 was given the info by FIRECom of multiple calls and advised to fill out the signal 10 procedure.
Upon his 22, he transmitted a signal 10 and re-alert for Glenwood. The sprinkler system was active and appeared to keep main body of fire in check. 2 tower ladders and the stick used to access the roof as well as a few ground ladders. The roof was underconstruction at the time of the fire and the building was occupied. The automatic fire alarm was also recieved for that address after the telephone alarms. The initial report received was heavy smoke on the #2 floor mens locker room. Crews went in using the TIC and opening up, observed the fire being contained in the cockloft by the sprinklers. Water supply is a major issue up there.
LVFD was alerted at approximately 1:16pm and responded with DC 5402 (Scaperotta) and TL 546. Upon their arrival they were ordered to split into 2 teams: 1 to the interior to check for extension and 1 to the roof to assist with opening a vent hole. Great job by all!
