Four Car MVA Mutual Aid to Glen Cove

Around 11:40am on June 25th the Glen Cove Fire Department received a call for a multiple car motor vehicle accident with a request for the Hurst Tool at the intersection of Town Path Ln. and the Arterial Highway (a.k.a. Glen Cove Rd.). Glen Cove FD received more information stating that there were multiple people who needed aid. The Glenwood Fire Company was dispatched for a mutual aid two ambulances to the scene of the accident, along with an ambulance form Sea Cliff Fire Department as well, to help with the aided. Bayville Fire Company sent an ambulance over to Glen Cove EMS HQ to standby. At approximately 11:58am the Locust Valley Fire Department was requested by Glen Cove FD for a mutual aid ambulance to the scene. Assistnat Chief Greenfield (5403) and Ambulance 541, under command of Lieutenant/EMT-B Paul Long. arrived shortly thereafter. Upon arrival, crews saw the large amount of debris all over the road and four cars, including two mini-vans, that were involved in the accident. 541's crew was asked to help load the male driver from one of the mini-vans onto a stretcher. The driver's neck was stabilized and then 541's crew had to place a backboard into the car using the front passenger door. The patient was carefully loaded onto the backboard and then onto the stretcher and into the ambulance. Ambulance 541 transported the patient to North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset. 541 was back in service at 2:00pm after the LVFD was toned out for an automatic alarm. As of at least 3:30pm, the intersection in Glen Cove where the accident occurred was still taped off with a police presence.
