LVFD Fights Car Fire
At approximately 4:04pm on Saturday, June 27th, the Locust Valley Fire Department was toned out for a Car Fire located on Cleft Rd. in Mill Neck near the intersection of Upper Horseshoe Rd. Assistant Chief Scaperotta (5401) was first on scene and confirmed a mini-van on fire. Engine 545, under the command of Lt. Steve Kelly, was the first due engine and immediately stretched a 1 and 3/4 in hose line. The fire in the car was quickly knocked down as well as the trees in which the car was parked under. The fire had started in the engine and upon smelling that something was on fire, the driver of the mini-van quickly pulled over and got his family out of the vehicle. Engine 544 responded as well, under a signal 12 order given by 5401. Ambulance 541, which was on a standby at the LVHS for graduation, also responded in. All units were up and back in service at headquarters by 4:30pm.
