LVFD Holds Car Fire Drill

On Sunday, August 30th, members of the LVFD convened at the TOB Highway yard on Elm Street to conduct a car fire drill. Assistant Chief Nolan, Chief of Training, coordinated the training session with the Department's training committee. Two vehicles were obtained from local resident donations and were utilized for this training session. E545 was set-up as the attack engine company, while E543 was positioned at a hydrant on Elm St to provide an additional water source. The crew from TL546 provided overhaul after each fire was extinguished. Members were instructed on how to be aware of the hidden dangers of car fires - from flammable liquids to exploding components to oncoming traffic, and how to protect themselves by wearing the proper equipment, employing the correct tactics, and operating with adequate resources.
