LVFD Open House Set for 10/24

The Locust Valley Fire Department will be holding its annual Fire Prevention and Open House day on Saturday, October 24th from 11am to 3pm. Rain date is Sunday the 25th.

Each year the members of the Locust Valley Fire Department invite the community to learn about the importance of practicing good fire safety techniques. A smoke education trailer will be on hand to give parents and children the opportunity to see what a room filled with smoke would look like from the inside. They will also be taught the importance of staying low to the ground and how to create an exit plan for their family. We will also have furniture and kitchen appliances to demonstrate what to do in the event that one of those items should catch fire, as well as cars where our members will demonstrate the "Jaws of Life" to show how we would remove someone who is trapped as a result of an auto accident. Other local public safety agencies and community organizations will also be on hand giving out information and discussing safety within the community. All residents are welcome to attend and learn important life safety tips, receive free giveaways, tour our firehouse and most of all, take a ride on a fire engine! Hot chocolate and snacks will be served throughout the event. Come and meet Locust Valley's Bravest!
