Open House A Success!

Sunday proved to be a much better day for the Locust Valley Fire Department's annual Community Fire Prevention and Open House day. With not one cloud in sight, the members worked from the early morning into the afternoon and put on yet another successful show.

Residents of all ages came down and were treated to demonstrations from the Nassau County Fire Marshall's Arson dogs, Abby and Umi, as well as a vehicle rollover simulator provided by the Police Highway Patrol Bureau. The members of the department also put on demonstrations of their own with couch and stove fires, as well as putting the Jaws of Life to work to "extricate" a victim from a car that had been in an accident. Children had the opportunity to spray a real fire hose, take rides on our Hook and Ladder truck, get child ID kits from the Police as well as free giveaways from the department and other organizations. There were delicious hotdog's, popcorn, cookies and hot chocolate also available to all. The Locust Valley Fire Department would like to thank the community for their attendance as well as the following organizations. The Nassau County Fire Marshall's office, Nassau County Police Highway Patrol, Nassau County Police 2nd Precinct P.O.P. (Problem Oriented Police) Unit, Jericho Fire District, Grenville Baker Boys and Girls Club, General Utilities, The Locust Valley Rotary, The Piping Rock Country Club, The Locust Valley Water District and the PetSafe Coalition for their generous time and donations to the community.
