LVFD Holds Annual Department Installation
On Saturday evening, May 15th, the Locust Valley Fire Department held its annual Installation of Officers at the Milleridge Cottage. The following members were sworn into their respective positions for 2010:

During the event, the Department also presented a few awards for outstanding service and dedication to the Locust Valley Fire Department and our community. Awards were given out to:
Firefighter of the Year - Ex-Captain Kevin Barry,
Hose Co. 1
EMS Provider of the Year - Lieutentant/EMT-CC Meredith Kassner, Emergency Medical Rescue Co. 1
Special Certificates were awarded to:
1st Lieutenant Charles Savinetti, Jr, Engine Co. 1 - for his actions at a working fire in Glen Cove.
Ex-Captain Thomas Hornosky, Ex-Captain William Eliseo, and Lieutenant Brian Plumb - for their actions in rescuing a worker, from the basement of a residence on Feeks Lane, who was overcome by Carbon Monoxide.
FF Jason Kelly - for his actions while on clinical rotations for his EMT certification at Winthrop Hospital in which he performed CPR on a patient who had just gone into cardiac arrest.
Community Heroism Awards were presented to Lynn Fricke and John Heffernan for removing and starting CPR on two victims that were involved in a horrific auto accident on Forest Avenue in 2009.
