544x - Exempts' Pumper

In August of 1948 the Department purchased a new Mack pumper, assigned to the Hose Company, which was capable of pumping seven hundred fifty gallons per minute. It also has a three hundred gallon tank and is fully equipped with a ladder, pike poles, axes, and other firefighting equipment. This versatile apparatus, combining its pumping capacity with the convenience of carrying a number of essential tools, was an advanced idea for the company at the time. After a long and exciting 24 year career, the Department sold the Mack to the Exempts Association for the token price of $1. The unit is still in use today, in a ceremonial capacity, for parades and funerals.
